We continued to have great Quilting weather this week, hot and humid, so I did manage to complete a couple of WIPs. The first is the table topper made from the unusual piece of African fabric sent to me by Cathy of http://cathyscrazybydesign.blogspot.com. She just finished posting about her exciting trip there.
I decided not to quilt the top, but to add borders to give it a rustic feel. I chose two WOF strips of Moda Grunge. After much ripping of wrong-sided seams, this is the look I was after.
A nice bit of orange for RSC18.
My second finish was a lightweight receiving blanket for a one of many babies born to mothers at a Texas hospital near the border of Mexico. This is a ministry of one of our guild members. She now has about 200 Quilts to take down there.
For this I used an assortment of my charm pack squares suitable for girls or boys, with some owls and monkeys to make them smile. I stitched it like a pillowcase and then did some edge-to-edge Quilting to finish it. I’ll be taking it to the guild meeting on Monday.
